The course is designed to help the student explore, understand, and to develop critical thinking regarding the physiological and psychological development of humans from conception to adolescence. Biological, cognitive, and social processes are presented to describe normal development through each stage. The format of the class will be lecture and class discussion.- Teacher: Lila Snow
First semester - Fieldwork Supervised practicum experience in an early childhood setting. The student will relate all previous theory courses to the practical application in the classroom. Students are assigned to a practicum site under the supervision of a CECMP Mentor Teacher or a master teacher to reinforce theory and to develop teaching techniques by working directly with children and staff.- Teacher: Lila Snow
A survey of Early Childhood Programs including philosophies and components of a quality program. Developmentally appropriate practices will be discussed in depth. The role of the teacher will be emphasized in relation to attitudes, goals, values and the total development of the child.- Teacher: Lila Snow
This course is an examination into administration and supervisory principles and practices necessary for the operation of an early childhood program. Topics include: licensing regulations, leadership skills, budget preparation and analyst, personnel management, parent involvement and local community resources.CD 4 - Section 0225 - Snow
The creative approach to program planning in language arts, mathematics, social studies, science and cooking will be explored. Emphasis will be on methods of presentation, values and evaluation of the child’s experience.
