• This class offers instruction in tutoring techniques, group dynamics, interpersonal skills, record-keeping, and organizational skills.Students will work 2-4 hours weekly from lab to practicum, tutoring students who have enrolled in Supervised Learning Assistance (Tutor 1T) and/or other college approved tutoring programs.

    Tutors will learn to “diagnose” students’ learning needs through questioning.

    Tutors will develop interpersonal skills through listening and communicating with students.

    Tutors will prepare reports and keep accurate records of tutorial sessions and tutees’ progress.

    Tutors will understand the dynamics of tutoring and learning through role-playing in group and one-to-one tutoring sessions that comprise the supervised field experience.

    Tutors will gain knowledge of cultural and ethnic diversity, as well as an understanding of “diversity within diversity” through lecture and role-playing experiences.
